ESCape to the Void

Premiered in its initial version at the Danza Nueva International Festival in Lima, Peru in 2019, featuring performer Stephanie García; the work was commissioned to Omar Carrum with support from Iberescena.

ESCape to the void is a journey into the reality of a character attempting to decipher themself through the various emotions and physical states that emerge following the loss of an ideal, a dream, a loved one, and the very person she believed themself to be.

The central thematic thread consists of reflections on multiple personality disorder, the unanswered questions surrounding death, and the imaginary worlds we create to define our identity.
